TECH 53 - BMW E46 Strut Tower Reinforcement Plates

A simple and cheap way to prevent your BMW E46 front strut towers to mushroom. Sold as a pair, this kit covers both driver and passenger side.

When the strut towers start to “mushroom,” it means that the metal has begun to deform. It is a result of stress, corrosion, or improper load distribution.

The strut towers are integral to the suspension geometry. Deformed strut towers will keep you from properly align your car. This also means that your tire wear won’t be even.
You may experience a harsher ride as the suspension struggles to perform correctly. We recommend the installation of reinforcement plates for both your safety and driving experience.
If you leave the strut towers deformed, you will cause the other suspension components to wear faster, and your suspension won’t work properly.

If your towers are already out of shape, you must bring it back to its original form before installing this kit. Once repaired, the lower circle shaped plate is meant to be installed between the tower and your top plate. You will then have to weld the upper plate on top of the strut tower. The upper plates have grooves in the right size for the studs in your top plates to go through. This kit fits all models E46.

If your towers are still in good shape, we recommend to every BMW E46 owners to install this kit as a prevention. We have seen a lot of them fail, mostly on cars with aftermarket suspension parts. For example, if you install a coilover kit on your car, chances are the towers will start to bend out of shape.
