Top Garage Takes Over the LZ Compound
Sometimes a Behind the Build episode turns into something bigger than expected. What started as a simple feature quickly turned into a full Top Garage takeover at the LZ Compound, with a group of Georgia-based drivers pulling up with some seriously dialed drift cars.
For this episode, Donny steps in as host, bringing in some longtime friends from the Top Garage crew: Chris Ward, Vince, and Emmett Ash. The group rolled in with three very different builds, but all sharing the same goal — clean setups, serious power, and cars built to drive hard.
Chris Ward – S15 Hot Boy 2JZ Setup
Chris Ward is no stranger to the drift world. A former Formula Drift competitor, Chris is known for pushing cars to their limits and bringing serious speed everywhere he drives.
His car? A proper hot boy S15 Silvia.
The car is powered by a fully built 2JZ and backed by a dog box transmission and quick-change rear end, making it a serious pro-level setup disguised in a flashy street-style drift build.
It’s the kind of car that can look good in the pits but absolutely rip when it hits the track.
Chris’ S15 is also packed with a ton of parts we work with here at Drift HQ, including:
- GFORCE Dog Box transmission
- Winters quick-change rear end
- Garrett G30-770 turbo
- Turbosmart wastegate
- Radium fuel system
- Chase Bays plumbing front to back
- Haltech engine management with keypad, display, and PDM
- Vibrant clamps and catch cans throughout
It’s a fully sorted setup designed to handle serious abuse.

Vince Moore – 1JZ S13 / S14 Front End
Vince’s car takes a slightly different approach but still sticks to a proven formula.
His build is an S13 chassis with an S14 front end, powered by a 1JZ and built around a clean, simple, reliable setup.
Instead of overcomplicating things, Vince kept the car straightforward and functional while still using quality components, including:
- Haltech Elite ECU
- Haltech IC7 digital display
- ARC 8000 ignition system
- Black Edition switch panel
- Garrett GTX3071R Gen II turbo
- Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
- Chase Bays power steering kit
The result is a balanced drift car that looks good, runs strong, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

VIEW MOOREEmmett Ash – R32 Skyline with a 2JZ
Then there’s Emmett Ash, whose R32 Skyline has had quite the journey over the years.
The car originally started life with an SR20, later ran an LS setup, and eventually landed on what might be its final form — a 2JZ-powered build.
To make things even more interesting, the car runs S13 suspension, creating a hybrid setup that blends Skyline style with S-chassis drift functionality.
His R32 build includes:
- Koyorad radiator with Derale dual fans
- Garrett G30-770 turbo setup
- Haltech IC7 display and keypad
- Radium fuel rail
- Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
- Chase Bays power steering and overflow systems
- Vibrant clamps throughout
- Grip Royal steering wheel and inline hydro
It’s a unique combination that works surprisingly well on track.
Built by Sammy Tiger
All three of these cars share another important connection — their engines were built by Sammy Tiger, a respected engine builder from Asia known for producing extremely strong and reliable JZ engines used in high-level drift builds.
His work speaks for itself when you see how hard these cars get driven.
Of course, the episode doesn’t stay calm for long.
Once the interviews wrap up, the entire crew heads out to the LZ Compound, and things quickly turn into an all-out drift session. Seeing these three cars driving together brings a whole different energy to the compound.
And as if the chaos wasn’t enough, a few surprise guests show up mid-interview, completely hijacking the conversation and turning the episode into one of the most entertaining Behind the Build features yet.
Good cars.
Good drivers.
Good friends.
And a whole lot of smoke.
