The Competition Oil Catch Can for Serious Racers
The CCR (Catch Can: Race) Competition oil catch can (patent pending) was designed with serious racers in mind. We focused on four primary design goals:
- Maximize flow: Designed primarily as a vent-to-atmosphere catch can for racing applications, we focused on maximizing flow to ensure crank case pressures are kept at a minimum, without sacrificing air-oil separation performance.
- Serviceability: The can was designed so it can be opened to check fluid levels removed for draining incredibly quickly without any tools. The lifetime filters can easily be removed for cleaning. And the ultra-versatile mounting bracket allows the can to be removed directly from above.
- Capacity: In order to meet the requirements of most racing bodies, the can is offered in a 1 liter (1 quart) capacity. Two smaller sizes are also available: 0.5 liter and 0.1 liter.
- Durability: The CCR is designed to take a beating! All components are made from durable high quality materials. As with any Improved Racing product, nothing will vibrate loose or come apart under racing conditions.
High-Flow Air-Oil Separator
High crankcase pressures can rob your engine of horsepower, which is why the CCR was specifically designed to minimize pressure drop and efficiently filter crankcase vapors.
Here's how it works:
- Crankcase vapors enter the catch can through dual -12AN ports.
- An impact plate separates fluids from the vapor as it enters the separator.
- A large, cylindrical filter further cleans the air with an efficiency of nearly 90%.
- Finally, air passes through a polyester foam filter to capture any remaining contaminants before exiting the can. In recirculated setups, the foam filter is replaced with an adapter featuring dual -12AN exit ports.

Race-Ready Durability
All of the external hardware used on the CCR is custom designed from the ground up (no off-the-shelf parts) and machined from 304 stainless steel for maximum reliability. The housing and internal components are made from aluminum to minimize weight. You can count on the CCR to hold up reliably on race day.

No Tools Required
The CCR can be opened in seconds to visually check fluid levels by removing a single ball-detent lock pin. The reservoir itself can also be removed for draining simply by loosening a thumb screw, then pulling it out of the bracket from above. This design minimizes the space required to mount the can and makes servicing the can between sessions a breeze.
Quick-Release Mounting Bracket System
The CCR's mounting bracket is machined from a custom, lightweight aluminum extrusion. There are three threaded holes on the bracket for the locking thumbscrew and lanyard nut. The bracket's symmetrical design allows it to be flipped around for a total of six hardware locations, so it will fit in just about any engine bay. Two 8mm holes are provided for securing the bracket in your engine bay.

Filtration
Maximizing flow was a major design priority, so we designed a cylindrical primary filter to maximize the filter's surface area. The filter is constructed from 5-layers of sintered stainless steel mesh in varying micron ratings. The custom molded FKM (Viton®) gaskets seals prevent any contaminants from bypassing the filter. To clean the filter, simply remove the seals and spray the filter with brake cleaner.
The secondary filter, used for vent-to-atmosphere applications, is made from a high-flow, high-temp polyester foam. These filters are washable and reusable, and we include a spare filter so you can easily swap in a fresh filter when needed.

Optional Recirculation Adapter

The optional recirculation adapter replaces the vent-to-atmosphere (VTA) filter with dual -12 ORB exit ports. Recirculated routing options include:
- Both lines routed to the intake manifold.
- Both lines routed pre-throttle body / turbo inlet / blower inlet.
- One line routed to the intake manifold via a check valve, one line routed pre-throttle body (or turbo/blower inlet) via a check valve. This setup maximizes crankcase vacuum and especially beneficial in boosted setups.
Modular Design & Optional Remote Draining
CCR oil catch cans feature a modular design with a removable bottom cap. The modular design allows for thinner walls, reducing overall mass and overall height while maintaining the same fluid capacity.
Don't worry about leaks! The bottom cap is securely fastened with a retaining clip, so there is no risk of it coming unscrewed and leaking.
Remote Drain or Auto-Drain Option: The bottom cap is easily removed and swapped for an optional cap with a -6 or -8 drain port (sold separately). This allows for remote draining or auto-draining directly to your oil pan. Be sure to use a check valve if auto-draining to prevent backflow.

We offer a remote drain kit which includes the bottom cap with a -6 ORB drain port, a stainless steel drain valve, hose, and fittings (part number CCR-DKB-06). You can also purchase the bottom cap on its own (part numbers CCR-16-KIT and CCR-17-KIT).

Application Notes
- Forced-induction applications: If using the catch can in a recirculated setup and the can is connected to the intake manifold (on the pressure side of the turbocharger or supercharger), a check valve must be added before the catch can to avoid pressurizing the can.
- Avoid pressurizing the can beyond normal crankcase pressures (1 psi max).
- See our line of check valves for options available.
