BMW E30 3-SERIES TO Z3/E36/E46 STEERING RACK CONVERSION KIT

Overview

Lose that school bus steering feel in your E30. This kit includes everything needed to allows you to install a later model E36 or E46 steering rack into an E30 3-series 1984-1990. This includes the spacers and hardware to shorten the lower steering shaft and also spacers to mount the E36 or E46 steering rack on your E30 subframe. If your BMW E30 has an airbag, all you will need is the spacers to mount the steering rack. 

Advantages

• Quicker Steering Ratio - All E36/E46 3-series steering racks have a quicker lock-to-lock steering ratio than the E30 which results in a much more crisp and precise steering feel. No more "school bus" feeling steering. A massive upgrade.
• Availability - Good condition E30 steering racks are becoming harder to come by in good used condition and later model steering units are much more readily available and priced nearly the same if not cheaper in many cases. Even if you are not interested in the performance upgrade this may end up as a more practical replacement for an aged/leaking steering rack.

Fitment

• Fits all non-airbag E30 models, except E30 325IX
• DOES NOT FIT E30 325IX. E30 IX models use a steering rack that is unique to the 325IX.
• DOES NOT FIT Euro model E30s with straight steering coupler shafts
• Install - Some steering shafts will require minor drilling with a 9/16" bit to fit our larger shouldered spacer. Installation will require relieving the OEM steering joints to make sure there is no binding under rotation.
