Upgrade your ND Miata's Cooling
The ND Miata uses a water-to-oil cooler from the factory, meaning your engine coolant is responsible for managing oil temperature. That works fine during a casual drive, but the moment you push the car hard, coolant temperatures climb and oil temperatures follow.
This kit replaces that system entirely with a dedicated air-to-oil cooler, so each circuit works independently.

Choose Your Driving Style
Not every Miata sees the same kind of use, so we built two options.
| Stage 1 | Uses the compact MHX-215 dual-pass oil cooler, sized for stock or lightly modified cars that see street driving, autocross, or occasional drag strip use. |
| Stage 2 | Steps up to the larger MHX-515 for drivers who road race, run extended sessions, or have added power beyond stock. If you're pushing the car hard enough to wonder whether your oil temperatures are a problem, Stage 2 gives you the headroom to stop wondering. |

For most Miata owners, Stage 1 is the right call. If you're racing wheel-to-wheel or have added power beyond stock, go Stage 2.

The Problem With Large Oil Coolers
An oil cooler without a thermostat cools oil all the time, including on cold starts and short trips where you actually want the engine to reach operating temperature quickly.
The No-Compromise Solution
Improved Racing's patented, high-flow ENV-135 thermostat bypasses the cooler during warm-up and only routes oil through once the target temperature is reached.
That means full cooling capacity on track, but no overcooling penalty on your morning commute. It's what makes this kit genuinely streetable year-round, not just a race-day bolt-on.
We offer three thermostat options to best match your needs.
