The STR clutches (red cover) were designed for the daily driver type who likes to go
to the track on weekends; the new GT clutches are very similar to the STR clutches,
but the pressure plate has been redesigned to offer less noise and smoother
engagement. They use the same materials and construction as other OS clutches:
- metallic friction material, chemically bonded to the disk (most other companies
rivet the friction material on, so once the meat wears down to the rivets the clutch
needs overhaul. OS disks can typically wear down to the bare metal before it starts
slipping)
- full 360 degree housing (much more rigid and resistant to any warpage between
flywheel and clutch components)
- steel alloy construction for all components while offering lighter flywheel vs.
stock (running a light aluminum flywheel on steel clutch leads to premature warpage
due to the varying heating properties between the different metals)
- chemical heat treatment (for additional strength)

Power handling capacity varies according to the specific model. As a general guide A-size clutches are recommended for up to 450hp, B-size for up to 550hp and C-size for up to 650hp, however power handling will vary up or down depending on the torque characteristics of your engine.
