When installing the B58 engine in the E36/E46, a rear sump pan and shaving down the 2 fins on the transmission pan are required. This modification ensures enough clearance for the stock cross member and the steering shaft, which can interfere with the engine's fitment. A small boss on the steering rack must be trimmed during the B58 engine swap in the E46. This modification ensures adequate clearance for the new engine and prevents interference with the installation.
