Weld-it-Yourself Custom DSSR

Overview

We make over 95 DSSRs for all kinds of OEM BMWs. However, sometimes, (especially with motor swaps), customers may require a custom, adjustable, twisted, or bent BMW selector rod. Well, now you can make it yourself! Simply take two machined ends and supplied rod, and bend/twist/weld it the way you need it!

These also feature precision shoulder bolts that thread into the end of the fork without bottoming out! Meaning a super precise shift that uses hardware to limit play instead of pins.

How it works:

We supply you with 2 beautifully CNC machined billet stainless ends along with a rod. One DSSR end will be specific to the trans selector joint, and the other to the shifter. You must specify what center-to-center dimension in mm you are trying to achieve on the selector rod you need to make. We will supply you with a rod to achieve that dimension when welded. You may need to cut the rod to length in some cases. Each end of the DSSR can take 48mm (about 1") of rod inside of it so that gives you a lot of adjustment.

Please note: If you are not sure what rod you need or want to have backups, select the longest length of the rod, then simply cut to length!

Dimensions must be in MM. International orders and large DSSRS (over 240mm in length) may require shipping price adjustments after the order is placed. We will reach out to you after the order is placed if any adjustments in shipping costs are necessary.

We do not take responsibility for untrained "welders". Please make sure whoever welds this knows how to weld stainless properly. Tig is preferred but these can be Mig.

What's a DSSR?

Well, it stands for dual shear selector rod. A DSSR will spread the torsional force on both sides of the selector rod instead of the OEM piece which connects from one side only. Based on the concept of the E30 M3 DTM cars of legend! Going to a DSSR in your E36 will mean less play in the shifter, (decreases side-to-side motion). This means a more precise and smooth shift every time. Now to the details. Our DSSR is made of stainless steel and then tig welded right here in our shop in Westminster CA, USA. Please note: Compatible with OEM style shifter only (some shifters will need to be slightly filed down to fit).
